On February 24, during the seventh session of the City Council of Toruń, the councilors passed a resolution on the change of name and statutes of the Municipal Institution of Culture Toruń 2016. Toruń Cultural Agenda was founded.

The reorganization of the institution was planned as it was in Krakow, where after the European Capital of Culture celebrations the coordinating body has been transformed into the Cracow Festival Bureau (KBF). The today tasks of Cracow’s institution include the organization and promotion of great cultural events and large multimedia performances, such as the annual New Year’s Eve. On the KBF’s initiative arose such festivals as Sacrum Profanum, Misteria Paschalia, Film Music Festival and ArtBoom Tauron Festival.

Toruń Cultural Agenda was given the tasks of:

  • organization and co-organization of city’s cultural events — especially where so far the role of organizer was given to particular units of the City Office of Toruń,
  • implementing solutions that facilitate the cultural activities of individual artists and non-governmental organizations,
  • organizing workshops and conduting educational activities.

Know-how sessions connected with city’s culture policy, national and international culture debates, joint-venture projects – these are some of the goals mentioned during the meeting.

The next meeting of “Partnership for Culture” will take place in Łódź in January 2011.

Let's talk!

21.10.2010 13:42

We must still talk. Only then, we will not waste four years of fight for ECoC.

Such a conclusion can be drawn after finishing on Wednesday, October 20 debate, which took place in Torun CoCA. Participants tried to answer the question of whether the release of the efforts of the event is the end or rather just the beginning of a new phase in the history of Torun culture? Debate, "ECOC 2016: Start and finish?" was organized by the team of Respublica Nova magazine. The atmosphere of the debate was extremely hot. The result is, however, one very clear request - we must discuss. It is necessary for a future of cultural Toruń.

The closest chance will be on Monday, 25.10.2010. NGO organisation TŁOK organizes a meeting under the name "Citizen Cafe". Among the guests will be President Michał Zaleski. The meeting will held on 25.10.2010 at 17 pm at the Center for Contemporary Art.
