ECoC @ 05.05.2010 07:54

Let’s open “The Universe of Culture”

Municipal Culture Institution Toruń 2016 invites everybody to present their ideas of projects that could be a part of the “Toruń as the European Capital of Culture” programme.

Being one of the candidates for the ECoC title Toruń has to present its first application till August 30th 2010. ECoC is a programme created for citizens, therefore we want the people of Toruń to take part in creating our application by sharing their ideas. In the first part of the competition we want to gather sketches of ideas and projects – their basics and goals – that correspond with at least one of those issues:

- SCIENCE / COPERNICAN HUMANISM,
- EUROPEAN CULTURAL EXCHANGE,
- REGIONALITY,
- CULTURAL HERITAGE,
- SOCIAL ACTIVITY/MODERN ART/ALTERNATIVE ART.

Three of the most important criteria of our application are:

- PARTNERSHIP,
- INNOVATION,
- DIVERSITY.

Each Project should meet at least one of those criteria.

With those criteria in mind all projects will be rated by Toruń 2016 Programme Coordinator, the application team and an outside expert. The most interesting ones will be included in city’s pre-selection application. After Toruń gets through the pre-selection part of the ECoC competition (at the end of 2010) we will start to prepare the final programme for the 2016. After that we will ask project authors to supply us with more specific data, such as costs and technical riders.

After we become the European Capiatal of Culture those project, as a part of our application, will be financed by Toruń 2016.

Feel free to send us your idea! DOWNLOAD THE PROJECT PROPOSAL FORM and send it back to us using info@torun2016.eu e-mail address. The deadline for sending your project proposal is May 25th. Please use the sentence “Toruń 2016 – Project proposal” in the subject line.

By sending your project proposal you agree on the fact that it will be included in Toruń 2016 application form. Toruń 2016 ensures that projects copyrights won’t be violated. As this is a competition, we won’t be publishing the list of winning projects until the end of the contest. Also, by sending us your project, you agree on not sending it to any other candidate city.

In case of any formal questions please call Magdalena Myszka at +48 56 621 03 33.
