1. There is no difference between us

In June ended an international youth exchange Equal-not-equal, which was entirely devoted to disability issues and has been implemented as the action 1.1 financed from the Programme Youth in Action.

Exchange was hosted by young people from Brodnickie Environmental Troop  Work, assisted by the staff of the Regional Command of the OHP, which has hosted three European organizations working for youth in Cyprus - Cyprus Youth Club, the Czech Republic - Hodina H and the Netherlands - Cardea Jurgendzorg. Most of the tasks of exchange were made in Torun.

Participants had the opportunity together with their disabled peers to manufacture handicraft  in the Foundation Arcadia, watch the implementation of the principles of integration and sports camps, involving charges of the Spirit Foundation and to assist in the implementation of dogoterpii classes for autistic students from School No. 6. In Brodnica - Brodnicki governor - Mr. Waldemar Gęsicki presented to participants the scope of activities of the office and subordinate units for persons with disabilities, and the head of the Department of Professional Activities has shown how they cope in the labor market - in an environment adapted to their needs.

Apart from visits, the participants shared a lot of time devoted to discussions on the topic of disability. They had to increase the sensitivity and knowledge of the needs of disabled people and their perception of the outside world. With the help of the Centre for Research Implementation PRYZMAT (eng. Prism), which operates at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, also prepared a research tool and conducted a brief survey addressed to the inhabitants of Torun.

The results - that is the answer to the question about the level of knowledge in the field of disability, will appear in a photo album entitled The urbanism of close and distant disability. The album, as its name implies, will also refer to the city's architecture - Torun and Brodnica and all the places represented by the participants in the exchange. It will provide the names of each group, a summary of panel discussions and the entire exchange and the title phrase - as the motto of joint youth activities.
