Cans helping the needy?

09.12.2009 09:46

Students from Toruń came up with a simple idea on how to help the needy. They will be gathering used tin cans and selling them to
raise money.

They call themselves Amon, study pedagogics and gather tin cans left by students in dormitories of the Nicolaus Copernicus University. They don’t want to earn money this way. Well, at least not for themselves. They are selling cans to raise money for the needy – this information was presented on the air by Radio Sfera.

“So many tin cans are being waist around student dorms. We want to collect them and sell them to raise money that can be used to help people who are in need” – sblueays Małgorzata Gdak, one of the action’s organizers. “Baskets for cans are located in every dorm. Those who need this can get a special basket for their own use” – she adds.

Students are enthusiastic about the whole project. Initially there were thirty baskets but organizers had to add more of them.
