Torun's film sesame - open again!

09.12.2010 11:02

New discovery related to pre-war film in Torun. This time discovered a color film shot by Bogusław Magiera in 1938 in Warsaw.

A few weeks ago we reported aboud the discovery by Szymon Spandowski form the journal "Nowości". he discovered pre-war documentaries portraying Torun. Film was made by an actor of Torun's Marwin-Film Studio - Bogusław Magiera. The first one is still screening in the Kino Center of Contemporary Art in cooperation with the film festival Tofifest. Destroyed celluloid film was saved by specialists from the Library of the Nicolaus Copernicus University .

Now Spandowski find another video, filmed probably in autumn 1938. It represents "Łazienki Park" and the Warsaw Old Town. And most importantly - it is a color film! Magiera's film is unique on a national scale, because documented the Capital of Poland before II WW destruction.

Tofifest and the daily "Nowości" would find it to all the people who have similar archives of films. We want to explore film history of Kujawsko - Pomorskie. For Tofifest is an element of built up over 8 years of the regional film promotion platform "Locations."
