Copernicus with a prize

„The Star of Copernicus” movie, financed partly by the city of Toruń, was awarded in Moscow.

The award was given during the 26th International Festival of Movies for Kids and Young Audiences. The jury gave the award because of

“many talents and educational values”.

The success is a big one, as there was so many movies presented during the festival.

The festival in Moscow was born in 1967. It is considered one of the most important festivals dealing with movies for kids and young audiences.

The Copernicus movie has a chance to win another award. Together with the “Magic Tree” movie created in Bydgoszcz it will be presented during a festival in Athens.

Three colors in Wozownia

Light-based installations are the main motive of Andrzej Syska works, that will be presented in Wozownia gallery starting from November 27th.

As we can read on Wozownia’s website:

„Light is extremely import ant for Syska. It changes the reality in which all works exist. Also, all installations tend to be as interactive as possible. The artist uses heat and movement sensors. This is why his works become alive in contact with the audience”.

Especially for the gallery the artist will create an installation inspired by the RGB technique.

“Sects — freedom or slavery?”

On November 26, 2009 NCU’s Faculty of Theology will hold scientific conference “Sects — freedom or slavery? Interdisciplinary issues”.

The conference will address various issues concerning the activities of so-called sects and new religious movements – in particular sociological, legal, educational, psychological, philosophical, theological and of religious studies. These issues will be presented both in theoretical and practical aspect. The conference aims to exchange ideas and experiences of representatives of expert, scientific and social circles.

During the conference scholars and practitioners from Warsaw, Gdansk, Olsztyn, Bialystok, Lublin, Wroclaw, Krakow, Katowice, Bielsko-Biala, Stalowa Wola and Torun will deliver their speeches dealing with the problem of sects and new religious movements.
